J has a Seattle Plan. And here is my companion to her plan.

I wrote a list on last December. I estimated it will take me an entire year to finish that list. No kidding. I am just slightly behind on my target for the Bamboo corset and secret project (I have until March 20!). I made a few changes.

Black clothes

DSCN0415.jpg

I am a bit obessive about my black clothes. Black is always "in" when you are looking in my closet. The last few years have been tough on black clothes. I occasionally stumble into Target and get my favorite Mossimo black random garment. Yesterday was one such occasion. I wore it yesterday and it is a keeper!

DSCN0414.jpg

So being the nerdy nerd I am, I added a category of "Happy" because I realize I dont have a happy category. Hrmph. I fixed that little problem. What I am so happy about?

It is 11:25pm. I started my day at ~8am. I am sporting a headache. I havent knitted at all. BUT! Lookie! I have lots and lots to be happy about. Namely - two balls of KSH nightly (see that sparkle?!), 3 skeins of Art Yarn suerpwash merino (in my very own colors), A knitting pattern calendar that knew what day it is when I opened it. yeehaaw! FOLK KNITTING! and see those cute little human hats? oh, and aurora 8. Oh oh oh! and the card!

Oh..and of course. I have to thank w+k cause they received the package and were kind enough to show me all their goodies too.

Thanks J!

Oh that... that's the candy someone shared with me.

Making a point

DSCN0405.jpg

I barely escaped the house, I had to buy yarn and borrow needles from GD. Phew. I am glad I went. It was very good. Part two of the fair isle class is picking up the strands on the knit and purl side. Here is a pic of the back.

I learned how to pick up the strand with MC on right hand/ CC color on left hand and the reverse. I now understand the top and bottom MC and CC thing. I also saw the MC & CC going the same way and opposite way. Something about pick up the strand every 2 stitches (not every stitches). Something about making sure to go for higher constrast, the colors play out differentlly once knitted...

I hope I remember it all.

Making snow

DSCN0384.jpg

A few weeks ago, I had lunch with a wife of an exworker -> friend. I knew she knit at some point but it came up during our conversation that day. We made another date to go play with yarn - that was wednesday.

The first display at HTE was a cute fair isle dotted hat and baby cardi. The helpful lady pointed out there is a First Fair Isle class coming up this saturaday (yesterday) and they need more people. She did the "I will if you will" :)

Here is a picture of the hat when I left class. It is UGLY and ICKY. HTE didnt have the ciruclar US#9 in 16" so I ended up doing the project in dpn. I would not use dpns for any fair isle projects. Here it is before wash and block nd the inside. I am not sure Snowball hat is for public consumption so some [un]lucky stuffed animal may take it.

Jule, the instructor was really sweet. She was casual and helpful and all the good stuff. She showed the one color in each hand method. My gauage is super different between right and left hand. I am super awkard but no longer afraid of knitting with the left hand. Must ... practice .. lots.... She mentioned she has mitten classes and likes the Latvian Mittens book. Woo... It was a good knitting day. She said if we had other color projects, we can bring them to class next week.

Cravings

me to DH... "I wanna buy yarn"

DH to me "Dunno what to tell you, are you out?"

It is like this. Instead of time-resource-money triangle. I have ...

... this thing call budget.
... this thing call stash.
... this thing call project list.
... this thing call available time.
... this thing call I-must-make-cable-sweater.

Yeah yeah. None of the above ever lines up in perfect harmony. To buy or not to buy yarn.

P.S. I have been knitting. I cant show you. Otherwise, I would have to kill you.

Sqyare #17 & #18

Square #17 is the Luckenbooth madallion from Jena. And #18 is a daisy from Knitting stitch bible... White on white is fabulous, you cant see any details.
