One jaywalker

DSCN0483.jpg

I was totaly unprepared and did not pack a travel project for the trip DC -> Knoxville. J took advantage of the situation and gave me purty meilenweit multiringel (that she has try to unstash on me for a while!) and taught me an elastic cast on, loan me needles ... THANKS J!

We happily knit away in the back seat while DHs were in the front. I manage to finish one sock tonight. It is a comfy and loose sock... I need to finish the other, and find the perfect shoemate for them. No frogging for me ;-)

P.S. Winter paws are cuter than jaywalker.

Oh, and the best looking toe :) I finally wrote it out so silly me can understand it

Quil-ghan

J posted her entry on the secret project. Phew, I don't have much to add .. except

- I am happy to finish the blanket
- I hope the happy couple likes the blanket
- I won't be knitting in cashmerino for a long time

- J has crazy ideas
- J is fun to do projects with
- Think twice before saying yes to J's crazy ideas

- I am not as frighten by sewing knitting and fabric (zipper is another story)
- I am not as frighten by bobbles

- I am too lazy to image map the detail on the blanket
- I still suck at math

- Sushi fabric is (l)

Anyone want some batting? I think I am going to do a small project next ... preferrably non-square.

It is off the needle. I finished the sleeve while sitting in J's living room on wednesday evening. She helped me wash and offered a fan to dry the sweater overnight. I sewed the buttons in the car on the way to Knowville .....

But ...

I have technical issue. I had a feeling that would happen. The tank fits nicely w/o sleeves. However, with the addtion of long sleeves, the weight of the sleeve pulls the sweater off the shoulder. It would be fine if I adjusted the sleeve length ... it would be fine if I had something to pin the sweater to ...

So ... it sits, off the needle, until I can figure out what to do with it. Here is the hi-res pic.

Not another hobby

J and I saw very cute fabric when we were at PF. I thought ...

NO FABRIC stash. Oh wait, I can extend my crafty hobby to fabric. I can make needle cases, bags, and .... BLACK clothes! heh.

Here is an online fabric store she found:
http://www.ladybuttonfabrics.com/

They have cute sushi fabric in black background. (psssssst: pefect fabric to compliment my sushi needlecase.)

Slow progress

DSCN0458.jpg

The body is finished. I picked up stitches on one sleeve and realize I dont have the right length circulars. duh. All the trips to LYS last week and I didnt think to pick up shorter needles.

Notes on ribbing:
I tried matching the rib as much as possible. I marked the k1s (in rib chart) on either site of the sleeve side opening, then mod'ed the pat as follow k pp kk p kk pp k. End results: 27 + 11 + 27 +11.

Two weeks and counting ...

in the name of ... 'research'

I was looking on quizfarm.. found an X-men quiz.

You scored as Storm. You are Storm. You are a down-to-earth type of person. You stay relaxed but always get what needs to be done, done.

I can't tell you or show you ...

J visited us for a few days. But I can't say or show you what we did. I just can say it total'ed ~230 hours for both of us. Oh, we went to yarn shops and stuff too...

See her post on the shops and her sock yarn stash. I net'ed +5 skeins of Cascade Sierra and 2 skeins of LL pinstripe, 21 buttons, 1 Patons pattern, 1 6" zipper, 1 fat quarter, 1 ball of Bourton d'Or Angora (to go with my other three). All things considered, it wasn't too bad.

Oh, and her post on Monsoon. We also went to Pho twice, Jak's, Portage Bay, and Oasis for pearl tea.

Here is a list for next time:
