Michael Kors ss aran - CO

DSCN0500.jpg

From Holiday 2005 Vogue Knitting. I started it with tubular cast on with Cascade Sierra US sz 8 needles.

I will decide if I like how the fabric looks after the first repeat of the cable. Oh. and ... I cant leave the pattern alone. I thought the diamond -> zig-zag is dumb. So I am only doing one side of the diamond.

What's wrong?

DSCN0496.jpg

Well, let me name a few ...

1. I am very cranky. (.. something about a**-chewing...)
2. My right forearm is in serious pain.
3. My gauge is different between the two jaywalker socks.
4. I want to cast on the MK aran sweater
I am thinking about tubular cast-on for plain 1x1 hem... I wonder about tubular hem tho.

Fashion homage

ladybugs and vans

These arent mine. That's J's coolest socks and vans. There are two kinds of people in this world (well, not really! but you know what I mean) - Converse or Vans. She is all about Vans. She told me she was wearing her ladybugs and red Vans. "Hey, you must take a pic..."

Ok. Yeah. I am nerdy.

A good home for Soleil

I freed Soleil last weekend and it found a good home. Whoohooo! I am happy I dont have to frog and J is enjoying it! yay. Oh, and a bonus:

J: http://www.shopatron.com/img/product_images/378/50-ori-sage.jpg
Me: linen yarn ...
J: it's sportweight ...
Me: did you see the aran sweater pattern?
it list 7 3.5 oz skeins
J: that's 1.5 [lb]
Me: 3 cones
yikes
$100 for a garment
J: it's not any cheaper than wool
cotton is cheaper
linen is not
Me: linen is kewler
J: until you saw off your fingers knitting with it

Folks. That was a real conversation.

Yarn day

DSCN0491.jpg

I made a list for our fun play date. I tried to stick with the list..

I *heart* Weaving works. That was our first stop and I touched and petted a LOT of yarn there. (where is J when I need her! she remembers everything) I ended up with Heilo for the mittens and an impulse of Manos in Flannel (stashing up for a garment). GD found the same dye lot KSH nightly she needed and a pretty red sock yarn. I think the sock yarn bug bit her.

After a short detoured to U Village for Anthropologie and baby prez. We found Acron and GD picked up two skeins of LL solid baby pink sock yarn. Not satisfy with two yarn shop, we went to Hilltop on Queen Anne. There GD almost picked up another project (yes, she needs more projects).

When I came home, DH wanted to see what I bought. "That's it" ... er. yeah.

So while I am thinking about yarn, here is yet-another-list of yarn I want to try:

CEY Provence - egyptian cotton
CEY Classic silk
Garnstudio Safran
Garnstudio bomull-lin
Valley yarn long meadow

List ... more list

UPDATE More ...
Louet sales linen
Louet sales Euroflax Aberdeen Heathers
Elsebeth Lavod cable cotton

Devotion

DSCN0492.jpg

GD and I had a superfun time. We had a play day plan and we started by going through the stash she acquired at Parkside's going out of biz sale. She knew what I really wanted to say that day was 'buy all the black yarn you see'...

She pulled out the bag and started to say that with my OBESSION with .... no no.. I said, my DEVOTION to black yarn..

... she offered me seven balls of Schulana Supercotton and two balls of Fortissima cotton sock yarn. THANK YOU! We checked out her WiPs and her new addtion of Valley Long Meadow yarn. With that, we head off to Seattle to go have brunch at Portage Bay, then Weaving Works, Acorn Street ..

Short break

No knitting this week. Busy. My right forearm is recovering a little. And! GD and I have a crafty date planned today. On my wish list ...

- spring and summer yarn and patterns for tanks, ts and camis
- baby yarn, not yarn babies
- yarn for mittens

Oh, and on a side note. I am also lusting after a shawl pattern that I must attempt, with lace weight misti alpaca that's been in my stash .... Hyrna from "Three-cornered and Long Shawls".

Boldy go where I have not gone before

Baby clothes ... How in the world do I pick a color for a little human?

Gina rescued me. She pointed me to sites such as Janie and Jack and Gymboree. To my surprise, children's clothing comes in real colors! So I will be searching for real colors for one of the pullovers in Jaeger JM07, in cotton blends (perhaps denim) in real colors (perhaps a navy or a good tan).

Soleil for spring

DSCN0487.jpg

I started Soleil around the first day of spring, hopefully in time for a long season of wear in this lovely weather. Debbie Bliss Cotton DK with US sz 7 needle. This is 1+ most of a ball (minus a swatch I did last summer). I hope I have enough!
