Rowan's Audrey - beg

DSCN0724.jpg

After untangling 15 balls of Debbie Bliss Cottn Angora, playing with steek, and a scarf .... and two weeks of contemplation. I started Audrey last night.

A few rows of black yarn on a circular needle looks really exciting.

Testing.. testing...

DSC_0179.jpg

I tried steek with the Purple Donegal tonight.. using the Crochet Enforced technique in Winter 2006 IK. It took a couple of tries on the Crochet part ...

I think I did a five-stitch-steek ... it was tricky to pull two stitches together.

After a semi-steady cut .. I turned one swatch into two. The knitting did not come undone. Phew.

I had originally thought to try the machine sewing. But machine sewing steek seamed sorta of wrong to me. So I think I will leave it be.

".... it is exactly what I want"

Let me say how unbelievable that phase is ... I don't think I have ever heard that phase spoken. Ever. NOTHING is 'exactly what I want" ... or what the other person want .. or what you think they want ... so ..

...let;s say that the DH actually wanted a handknit ... asked for a scarf ... I happen to have yarn .. and .. pretended to say how long he wants it ... well. "It is exactly want I want" .. .Er. right.

Er. weather ....

DSCN0699.jpg

It took me a record of two hours to get home. TWO HOURS. Here is the tracks made by the wagon on the drive way. And well.. here is the weather map after most of the storm was over and oh my weather widget says it is cold!

Oh my head ...

With the exception of the felted purse, which I have to sew lining and put together. I have no WiP projects. So I spent the weekend looking for the something that will

- keep me interested (fun pattern, something I / someone else will wear)
- wont make my head hurt
- not six million St st (no mom's plain cardi)
- not involve new yarn (I don't need more yarn)
- account for the fact I probably will finish it in spring

I checked my last project list and my inventory...

Then I was stumbling around in blogland and found .. the most amazing and strange sweater. I want one. And J and I were also on the topic of colorwork.She designed this fabulous Stars and Moons sweater. Oh my head!

So I downloaded and installed the demo version of Stitch and Motif and Knit Visualizer. My issue is that I wanted one that also give me a decent representation of gauge and colorwork. J mentioned Knit Visualizer is adding color... not sure if they are adding gauge. Hrmph.

Oh, the list ...based on the one I made last year, add some new stuff .. and whola!

* Rowan Audrey in Rowan #35 with Rowan Calmer
* Cable & bobble hoodie jacket from Patons Street Smart with Peace Fleece
* Sundae from Rowan Holiday in Rowan 4-ply cotton
* Butterfly from Rowan #36 in Rowan KSH
* AV2003 Cable toad

* Rainforest Ladybug gloves
* Fruit hat with gifted yarn from J

And of course ...
* cardi for mom

still on the wishlist:
Three corner and long shawl book

I actually have a strange issue where I am so indecisive I dont know which project to start! So the DH said, knit me a scarf! I now have a black/grey/light grey ribbed scarf in progress. That should hold me until I figure out the next project.

Setesdal Mittens

DSCN0696.jpg

My first mittens! These were a good experiment. Color work with DPNs is tricky. I can see the uneven tension on the joins. And I just noticed I have mismatched dec. I am happy I finished them. They are 'artisan' ;-) ha ha.
