Family treasure

My Mom is a very crafty person. She was a seamstress. She sews(ed), knit, and crochet. I remember her sewing late into the night when I was little. She would help me crafty when I was learning knitting and crochet in elementary school.

I don't think of myself as a crafty person. I knit for therapy. I have wanted to learn to sew and stuff. I asked her a few months ago how I go about drawing sewing patterns...

So last time I visited her, she showed me a couple of books. I remember these books .. they were always on the table when I was little. They are fantastic books - in English & Chinese with basic instructions, variety of patterns, and very detailed diagrams. After much 'discussion', mom gave the sewing ones to me.

She no longer sews. She is now interested in knitting :) So I bought her the Sweater Pattern book and Finishing Technique book. She kept a knitting + crochet book (similar to the sewing books). She did this cast on from ..where it looks like a rib cast co.It was not a fair trade, but she is my mother and she is wonderful and generous.
