Cupcake friends

DSCN1141

I copying GD's cupcake . And made one (of many?! maybe) for a prez. All of a sudden, I was craving cupcakes. And I only have one left .. and I wanted to take picture with both of them together. What a dilemma! J, being wise, said .."you can always make more cupcakes". But I didn't eat my prop ... I can now :)

Dashing mittens

Quick proj for prez ... I like how these fit. If I did not have such an aversion to making the same thing twice, I may just knit some for myself.

Making notes on laptop sleeve

G looked at my felt'd purse with slight amusement when I was finishing it last week, I offered to make him one :) That made him happy. Which brings me here - making notes here for a felt'd laptop sleeve. Based on my previous (one time!) experience using cascade pastaza and 220

13.5 x 8.5 -> 11x 6.75
13.5 x 13.5 -> 11x 11

so this means ... it shrunk ~12.5% width wise and 20% height wise (on mine) and about 18% all around on GD's.

So in order to make a laptop sleeve for 14" x 9.5" x 1" .. with the sleeve open on the short side. I should make a pocket about 17" x 11" x 1.5". I think Patons may be a better choice, less fuzzy/fussy, than Pastaza. Good thing fulling is forgiving, this sort of arithmetic may prove to be challenging.

Madrona Fiber Arts

J, who is moving back! pointed me to Madrona. There is a short list of classes I am interested in - Latvian Mittens (6hrs), Advanced design with cables, and Steek (3hrs).. classes! :D

Hyrna Herborgar ..

I started Three cornered and long shawls (Ravelry link) so I can occupy my mind with knit stuff instead of other stressy stuff. I started with US 3 (on the right), and was unwieldy. I was having a hard time counting (no really) and un-knitting was almost impossible. So I ordered US 4 and started again last night ... they look the same in the pics, but it is slightly more open in US 4. Hopefully it goes more smoothly. It is a very enjoyable and purty pattern. Addi lace needle is a perfect match for this project.

Felt' purse

DSCN1127

(Hi Kooler, didn't mean to disturb your nap). I absolutely adore it. It may be because it took me many mental hurdles - two years worth. GD and I felted it on her ol'washing machine. I bought the fabric when we visited J the T-day after I finished it.

I really enjoy felting and will try it as soon as possible. Perhaps another purse or laptop sleeves .. or or or :)

Seafoam ...

Yay! Seafoam scarf is home with J :)

Oct 12th - It is done :). It grew from ~ 47' to ~ 72" woot! It was 2+ balls of Noro Silk Garden. Purty ..

Oct 10th - The knitting is done. I asked the DH whether it is long enough. He held it and I stretched it to simulate the blocking .. "yeah. it is long enough if it doesn't shrink". Going to wash and block this weekend.

Oct 5th - I am writing a secret post that will be posted after J gets the scarf :) I had to put Mom's chunky sweater on hold while waiting on the button. So it was perfect timing ...

I found "Seafoam" in J's queue on Ravelry to make a scarf with yarn, Noro Silk Garden, she gifted me a long time ago. The colorway works really well with Seafoam pattern! I started the scarf on October 4 ...
